New Function for EPP Transfer Codes
New Function for EPP Transfer Codes
Users of our EPP service are required to provide an authInfo code when initiating domain transfers. This is a security feature that is standard across most gTLDs and many ccTLDs. We have just introduced the auth_info toolkit function that allows non-EPP registrars to retrieve the transfer code for a domain name so that the registrant can provide it to an EPP registrar to initiate a transfer. You will also find new versions of the Perl and PHP libraries that support this function. Details of how to use it can be found in the respective cookbooks.
The transfer code can also be manually retrieved via the Registrar Console.
Please note that registrars are expected to provide this code to registrants if they request it - we will be amending our registrar terms and conditions to make this a requirement in the future.
Please note that non-EPP registrars can continue to initiate transfer requests without the transfer code.
